Predicting Georgia football's College Football Playoff run
Semifinals
Moving on to the seminals now, Georgia could face any one of three teams. 3-seed Miami (FL), 6-seed Texas and 11-seed Indiana would be the possibilities based on our 12-team bracket.
While Indiana is slowly becoming a team that could realistically make some noise in the playoffs, I think Texas is too strong for them. I also think Texas is too good for Miami (FL) as well and would knock them off in the quarterfinals as well. So Georgia's semifinal matchup would be a rematch from last weekend's game that Georgia won on the road 30-15.
The crazy part about this matchup is that this could be the third time these two teams play as a rematch in the SEC Championship game is a real possibility. In this scenario, Georgia would win that rematch as the SEC Champion. Part of me however hopes Texas isn't the team waiting for Georgia in Atlanta because playing the same team for a third time (especially if Georgia wins the first two meetings) in the Playoffs seems like a recipe for disaster.
But ignoring the potential of this being the third meeting between these teams, Georgia seems like the obvious choice here. The Bulldogs, for the most part, dominated last weekend's game, which was a road game. This matchup would be at a neutral field which theoretically makes Georgia's life that much easier.
But it's probably a safe assumption that Geogia doesn't get out to a 23-0 lead again against a team as good as Texas. That however won't matter. Georgia is too talented on the defensive side of the ball for Texas to handle. So even if Carson Beck and the offense struggle to throw the ball again, I think UGA's defense will be strong enough to win this rematch.
Prediction: Georgia wins 24-21
