Georgia football is waking up Sunday morning feeling very good about themselves after finding a way to beat Tennessee 44-41 in overtime. It may not have been pretty, but in college football all that matters is winning and that's exactly what Georgia did.
The Bulldogs were the No. 6 team in the country heading into their matchup with Tennessee, who was No. 15 in the AP Poll. After a road win against that good of a team, Georgia has a great argument to move up in the rankings, but how high will they climb in the updated AP Poll?
Where will Georgia be ranked in the Week 4 AP Poll?
The five teams in front of Georgia in the AP Poll are Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, Oregon and Miami (FL). Unfortunately for UGA, all five teams won on Saturday as well, so there is a chance UGA ends up staying put at No. 6, but the Bulldogs have a good argument to move up a few spots.
One team Georgia should be jump in the rankings is LSU. The Tigers only beat a bad Florida team by 10 on Saturday, and their week one win against Clemson is looking much worse after they just fell to 1-2 after losing to Georgia Tech on Saturday. The only reason LSU was No. 3 in the first place was because of this win over Clemson, but that win doesn't hold as much weight as everyone originally thought.
Penn State is a team that likely deserves to fall in the rankings as well. They did win their week three game 52-6, but they are yet to play anyone good this season so why should teams be rewarded for playing an easy schedule?
All that being said, Georgia more than likely will still be sitting at No. 6 when the latest rankings are released on Sunday. But if the AP voters were paying attention, they would slide LSU back and move UGA up one spot to No. 5.
At the end of the day it really doesn't matter what happens to UGA in the AP Poll. Georgia proved on Saturday that they are one of the best teams in the country, and as long as they keep winning everything will take care of itself in these rankings.
