Predicting the final score of Georgia football’s final five games

Can Georgia keep riding the momentum they created after knocking off No. 1 Texas, or will they fall short of making the SEC Championship game and College Football Playoffs?

Georgia football is fresh off defeating the No. 1 Texas Longhorns on Saturday 30-15. With that comes a lot of attention and expectations.

Expectations for Georgia were still high going into this game, but most felt that a national championship was unattainable. That is until the Bulldogs stormed into Austin, snatched a victory from the Longhorns, and came back to Georgia with new found belief from the rest of the country.

Gerogia now heads into their bye week as the No. 2 team in the country and in the driver’s seat to make the SEC Championship game (Yes, this is assuming Texas A&M and LSU lose) and College Football Playoffs. But can they get to both is the question.

So here are my final score predictions for Georgia’s final five regular season games, and the SEC Championship game if they make it that far.

1. Florida

Georgia fans likely know by this point that their rival, the Florida Gators, are not having a very good season. Matters got even worse for Florida when their starting quarterback Graham Mertz suffered a season ending knee injury against Tennessee two games ago.

So on paper this looks like disaster for Florida, and a pretty easy win for Georgia. That however may not be the case.

Two games ago against Tennessee, Florida took the Vols to overtime. Sure Tennessee ended up winning, but that is still an encouraging result for Florida. Then just this past Saturday, in their first full game without Mertz, the Gators dominated Kentucky 48-20. That looks a lot better than Georgia's one point win against Kentucky earlier this season.

But this is a different Georgia team now. This Georgia team is infinitely better than the one that barely squeaked by Kentucky. Sure there is a little concern coming off the emotional win against Texas, but the bye week this week should assist with that.

Kirby Smart will have his guys ready to go, and they will not skip a beat.

Prediction: Georgia wins 31-13

Updated record: 7-1 (5-1)
