Always be 'crootin'. That is the name of the game in the wonderful world of college athletics. While Georgia is every bit the traditional power, Kirby Smart's Bulldogs have had a difficult time sealing the deal with many prospective recruits in the 2027 cycle. It may be a bit too early in the process to lose any sleep over, but Georgia keeps getting out-bid for certain four and five-star players' commitments.
After a strong recruiting weekend only a few days ago, maybe some recruits will Commit to the G? With Memorial Day Weekend rapidly approaching, Georgia will hunker down and put forth another valiant effort beginning on May 29. Georgia will be hosting recruits all summer, but now is the time to amplify what is already great about this 2027 recruiting class. Again, nothing is official until the NLIs.
While Dawg Nation may want more four and five-stars to decide Georgia is the perfect place for them, we may need to settle a bit for who actually wants to come here. We know that Smart and his staff will do a great job of developing its incoming talent, no matter how many stars are next to their name. In time, Georgia can climb up the recruiting rankings to a level that is far more acceptable to UGA fans.
So with that in mind, here are three players coming in for a visit soon that could be committing as well.
3. WR Taurean Rawlins (Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, Atlanta, GA)
Three-star wide receiver Taurean Rawlins may be listed as "cool" on his 247Sports page coming into his visit with home state UGA, but the Dawgs have a far better chance of landing him than you might think. The Mount Vernon Presbyterian School standout is the No. 54 player from Georgia, the No. 58 wide receiver in the country, and the No. 478 overall prospect in his class. UGA needs wide receivers.
Right now, Rawlins only has official visits lined up with Georgia (May 29) and Clemson (June 12). His On3/Rivals page has him favored to Commit to the G at 35.1 percent over Vanderbilt at 16.2 percent and Arkansas at 13.5 percent. Vanderbilt has made huge strides in recruitment, while Arkansas usually performs well there. That being said, UGA is in-state and Rawlins plays a real position of need.
It may not come until after he visits with Clemson, but Rawlins feels like a guy who may commit soon.
2. WR Sean Green (Camden County HS, Kingsland, GA)
This may come down to the wire for Camden County standout Sean Green. The four-star wide receiver is looking pretty heavily at three places in Florida State, Georgia, and Georgia Tech. He has an official visit to Tallahassee a week after he comes to Athens. While On3/Rivals does have him as an overwhelming favorite to commit to Florida State, coming to a place like Athens will change the game.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Green is the No. 30 player from Georgia, the No. 36 wide receiver in the country, and the No. 290 overall prospect in his class. Frankly, this may come down to a matter of preference, but Georgia is in the far better spot as a program over Florida State, as well as over Georgia Tech. It is why Smart and his staff need to make sure that he falls in love with Georgia.
Given that he grew up in suburban Jacksonville, Green knows all too well about their massive rivalry.
1. LB Joakim Gouda (McEachern HS, Powder Springs, GA)
If there is any player slated to take an official visit to Georgia at the end of the month who could commit on the spot, it has to be four-star linebacker Joakim Gouda. The McEachern star is the No. 21 player from Georgia, the No. 14 linebacker in his class, and the No. 193 overall prospect in the 2027 cycle. He may have interest in places like Auburn, Florida, and Texas, but Georgia could take the cake.
Despite having official visits scheduled to Florida (June 4), Texas (June 12), and Auburn (June 19), just look at where he is predicted to go on his On3/Rivals page... Georgia comes in at a gargantuan 90.5-percent favorite to land him. Auburn is next at 2.6 percent, followed by Florida at 2.3 percent, and Texas at 1.5 percent. It would be shocking if UGA did not close the deal with this in-state linebacker.
The big question now is not if Gouda is going to Commit to the G, but how soon is he going to do it.
