The first round of the NFL Draft has come and gone, and it lived up to the hype like it typically does. However, there is always a little concern for Georgia football fans because of the unknown surrounding how the former Bulldogs will fare on the biggest stage.
Entering the first round of the draft, Georgia was expected to have three players selected. But every year there are players who fall in the draft and get drafted much later than anyone thought possible, so there is always a chance that this could happen to one of Georgia's many draft prospects.
But that did not happen Thursday night as everything went as UGA fans expected it to go.
First round of NFL Draft went as expected for Georgia
The night began with 10 players being selected without a Bulldog hearing their name called. However, Georgia fans didn't really expect any former Bulldogs to be picked inside the top 10, so there was no need to panic about that.
Then entered the San Francisco 49ers, who had the 11th pick in the draft which they used on defensive lineman Mykel Williams.
This left two Bulldogs still hoping to be selected, and Georgia fans didn't have to wait much longer for the best moment of the draft. This came with the 15th overall pick in the draft which was used by the Atlanta Falcons as they finally took a Bulldog. They opted to go with linebacker Jalon Walker, which is about as good of a pick as they could have made.
Last but not least is safety Malaki Starks, who did fall in the draft a little more than expected. But he still ended up being one of the last picks in the first round as he was taken 27th overall by the Baltimore Ravens.
It will be interesting to see how the next two days go for Georgia and if everyone who expects to be drafted is actually selected, but so far the draft has gone exactly as expected which is really reassuring to see.
