Saturday was the perfect day for Georgia. Not only did UGA get a big win themselves, but three other results across the country really helped the Bulldogs season outlook.
1. Georgia's win over Kentucky
The most important thing for Georgia and Kirby Smart to do right now is to keep winning. That may seem obvious, but it’s worth mentioning because nothing else across the country matters if Georgia loses more games.
So the Bulldogs 35-14 win over Kentucky was the No. 1 result of the day because it kept Georgia’s hopes and dreams alive this season.
2. Florida taking down Texas
Texas’s game at Florida gave Georgia fans a little bit of a dilemma. UGA loves to see Florida lose, but a win by the Gators is actually better for Georgia in the long run.
Florida had already lost three games this season, so they no longer are a threat to Georgia. Texas on the other hand still had all of their goals in front of them, including making it back to the SEC Championship game. So Florida’s 29-21 victory over the Longhorns was the best scenario from this game.
3. Alabama defeating Vanderbilt
Keeping it in the SEC Georgia fans will find another huge matchup that impacts their season outlook. UGA may have just lost to Alabama last week, but it’s important for them to keep winning to help Georgia’s resume in the long run.
The last thing Georgia needs is for Alabama to lose a lot of games. This would significantly hurt UGA’s College Football Playoff resume because what looks like a good loss to the Crimson Tide right now would turn into a bad loss really fast.
So Alabama’s 30-14 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday was another big result for Georgia.
4. Penn Sate's embarrassing defeat to UCLA
Speaking of College Football Playoff resumes, Georgia got a big boost from the Big Ten's Penn State after they dropped their second game in a row to a winless UCLA squad. The Nittany Lions still have a chance to make the CFP if they win out, but they won't make the playoff ahead of Georgia if UGA finishes at 10-2 as well.
