SEC analyst gave Georgia all the motivation they need

This statement is beyond ridiculous.

The offseason is the time of the year when hot takes are thrown around by every college football analyst. That is especially true in the month of May because the NFL Draft is done and summer recruiting is yet to reach it's peak.

So the only thing most analysts tend to discuss is their outlook on the future season ahead. And while there will be many crazy things said about Georgia and the SEC as a whole from now until the season begins, the SEC Network's Peter Burns might have already won the award for the most wild statement of all.

"The SEC does not run through Georgia right now. The SEC powerhouse are the Texas Longhorns."

It's impossible for the SEC to run through Texas

No one can deny that Texas is one of the best teams in the SEC heading into the 2025 season, but it is not fair to claim the SEC runs through Texas right now. That title typically is only bestowed upon the reigning conference champion, or another program who has been dominant in the conference for many years.

Based on that defintion, Georgia is the team that is at the top of the SEC right now, with Alabama trailing right behind since they have been very good for a long time. But Texas? They do not belong in that conversation yet.

But the real reason why this statement is so absurd is because Georgia beat Texas twice just a few months ago. And these games were at Texas when they were the No. 1 team in the country and when the SEC Championship was on the line. A team that fails to win those two games will never deserve to be labeled as the "powerhouse" program in the conference.

The good news for Georgia is that everyone acted like Texas was going to win before their two meetings last year, and we all know how that worked out. So hopefully more and more analysts make similar statements to this, because Kirby Smart will be watching and will use it to motivate his team that much more.
