When your favorite SEC football team is so far out of it and already fired its head coach before Halloween, you have to find something to make yourself feel good. That is exactly what appears to be the case for ESPN SEC football personality Peter Burns. His beloved LSU Tigers are the epitome of toast, where as the Georgia Bulldogs are approaching shoo-in territory when it comes to the playoff.
Entering Week 11, Georgia has an 85.5-percent chance to make the College Football Playoff, according to Burns' employer's Football Power Index. This is the fifth-best mark in college football, behind only Indiana (99.0), Ohio State (98.6), Texas A&M (96.6), and Alabama (92.5). Georgia is 7-1 on the season and 5-1 in SEC play with wins over Tennessee and Ole Miss, a team that Burns really loves.
Truth be told, it may be a coping mechanism for his Bayou Bengals losing to Ole Miss in Magnolia.
Peter Burns decided to choose violence by criticizing Georgia football
On Sunday night, Burns refused to say Georgia was playoff bound, having the Dawgs as "Playoffish".

Burns would try to backtrack after getting devoured alive in his mentions about Georgia being "Playoffish". He tried to say that he has Georgia still making the playoff, but not as much of a lock as a team Georgia beat head-to-head in Ole Miss because of what Georgia still has to play. The Dawgs are on the road at Mississippi, host Texas and Charlotte, all before finishing in Atlanta vs. Georgia Tech.
Ole Miss has a 77.3-percent chance to make the playoff, while Texas only has a 55.2-percent chance.
What Georgia must do to make College Football Playoff moving forward
In the veins of Burns saying Ole Miss has the easier path, of course, the Rebels do... They were the only team in the SEC that did not have to play a Power Four team in the non-conference. Tulane and Washington State are close, but no cigar. For that reason, Ole Miss had one of the four easiest schedules in the SEC entering this year, along with the likes of Missouri and Tennessee. That is why.
For Ole Miss to make the playoff, the Rebels probably need to win out with victories over The Citadel, Florida and Mississippi State. While the Gators or those Bulldogs could conceivably get them, Ole Miss' path to the playoff is crystal clear. As for Georgia, the Bulldogs need to win three of their final four games. It will beat Charlotte, but it could lose to either Mississippi State, Texas or Georgia Tech.
Perhaps "cockroaches" is a term of endearment? Well, it is not landing that way... Regardless, Georgia has been a top-10 team pretty much the entire season, having been a top-five team for the better part of it as well. If the SEC gets four teams into the playoff this year, Georgia will be one of them, along with likely Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. It has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Ole Miss.
This all may be a moot point, but Georgia has earned far better respect than being "cockroaches."
