SEC teams see a lot of movement in latest AP Poll

Georgia football may not have seen movement in their ranking, but the rest of the SEC certainly did.

Gerogia football had their second bye week of the season, and that means it was unlikely to see them move up or down in the latest edition of the AP Poll. After their great win against Texas last weekend, it was hard to imagine any team jumping Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs, but when it comes to AP voters you never know what they’re going to do.

However, the only way UGA could realistically move in the poll is if Oregon lost, but the Ducks cruised to a 38-9 victory over a ranked Illinois team. So they rightfully stayed at No. 1 in the poll this week.

Because of that, Georgia stayed put at No. 2 in this week’s AP Poll while receiving one first place vote, which is one less than last week’s poll. But even though nothing changed with Georgia, the rest of the SEC saw a lot of movement after a weekend full of exciting games.

After falling to Georgia last week, Texas traveled to Vanderbilt and came away with a three point victory. That narrow win dropped the Longhorns one spot to No. 6.

The biggest movers in the SEC were Texas A&M, who moved up four spots to No. 10 after defeating LSU 38-23 in the SEC’s biggest game of the weekend. Alternatively, LSU dropped eight spots to No. 16 after this loss.

Missouri somehow stayed inside the rankings, only dropping four spots to No. 25 after losing to Alabama 34-0. The Tide moved up one spot to No. 14 after their dominant victory.

Ole Miss struggled for half of their game against Oklahoma, and because of that they moved one spot down to No. 19.

Lastly, Vanderbilt fell out of the rankings after losing by three to Texas. How the voters kept Missouri in the top 25 instead of Vanderbilt makes no sense, but thankfully this all will likely change next week when the College Football Playoff rankings begin coming out.
