It's no secret that Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and head coach Nick Sirianni love them some Georgia Bulldogs. The pipeline from Athens to Philly started soon after the Dawgs won their first of back-to-back National Championships in 2021 and 2022.
Guys like Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, and Kelee Ringo are now veteran NFL players in the City of Brotherly Love.
This season, several more former UGA defenders are looking to join their Dawg brethren in Philly for the 2025 season, including rookie LB Smael Mondon, S Lewis Cine, and EDGE Azeez Ojulari.
The pipeline from UGA to Philadelphia is still going strong.
Smael Mondon Jr. is trying to make the 53 man roster
By most accounts, Smael Mondon didn't have the career at Georgia that he and fans expected when he came in as a five-star recruit in 2020. He suffered through myriad of injuries that sidelined him for close to two full seasons, and when he did see the field, the results were a mixed bag.
But the talent has always been there, and now the former Dawg is getting a chance to play on Sundays in Philly. The Eagles used the 161st pick in the 5th round to draft to select the versatile linebacker, and he got plenty of reps in the team's first preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Like his career in Athens, the reports from the Philadelphia media are that Mondon Jr. delivered some good and some not-so-good moments. He led all Eagles' linebackers in snaps with 36 and finished the night with four solo tackles, but the Eagles surrendered 27 points.
Veterans Lewis Cine and Azeez Ojulari are hoping to catch on in Philly
Hard hitting safety Lewis Cine was a first round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings after helping the Dawgs to their 2022 championship.
His career with the Vikings was derailed by injuries, but he is now in Philly, hoping to join the UGA crew. Cine however made just one tackle in the game.
Former Bulldog EDGE Azeez Ojulari is coming off several productive seasons with the New York Giants and now is trying his hand with the Eagles. From '21-'24 in the Big Apple, Ojulari racked up 22 sacks and was a consistent presence in the backfield.
Hopefully all these former dirty Dawgs will sign on the dotted line come week 1, and there will be a total of 7 former Bulldogs in Philly this year looking to help the Eagles repeat as Super Bowl Champions.
