Georgia football already lost the No. 1 commit in their recruiting class when five-star quarterback Jared Curtis flipped to Vanderbilt on Tuesday. That however was not the only big loss Georgia suffered this week as four-star wide receiver Brady Marchese followed his lead and announced his departure to Michigan on Thursday.

This news was a lot more surprising than Curtis's decision to flip. For the past month Curtis had been flirting with the Commodores, so seeing him make it official on Tuesday was not surprising. But Marchese is very shocking mainly because Georgia held off a big push from Michigan earlier this summer and there was no indication this was coming until early Thursday morning.

But the Bulldogs unfortunately came up short and will not be bringing one of the top wide receivers in the country to Athens.

Georgia loses 4-star Brady Marchese to Michigan

Marchese was one of the earliest recruits to commit to Georgia's 2026 recruiting class as he committed to UGA in March. That commitment was challenged by Michigan in June to the point where many experts expected him to flip to the Wolverines then, but Georgia was able to hold off Michigan's push then, but that unfortunately didn't last.

Losing a player like Marchese is difficult to overcome, but the Bulldogs do have two wide receivers who already signed to their 2026 recruiting class. This includes Craig Dandridge who is a higher ranked recruit than Marchese as he is a top 100 player.

So while this loss won't ruin the future of Georgia's wide receiver room, it is tough to see because their wide receiver class would have been one of the best in the country if he stuck with UGA. That however did not happen, but there is no reason anyone should be panicking over this one loss.
