If any quarterback wants to be successfu in college they should go play football at Georgia. That is a phrase in the past that would not make sense to college football fans, but now it absolutely does.
Georgia has always produced winning quarterbacks, but they didn't have any personal accolades to really show for it. Quarterbacks like Jake Fromm and Aaron Murray have gone through the Georgia system with some significant accomplishments. However, Georgia was still considered strictly a running back factory. Although they are still RBU, they are defying the odds and producing Heisman finalist QBs at an impressive rate.
Georgia joins prestigious list of teams with heisman-contending QBs
Although Gunner Stockton did not earn a trip to New York as a Heisman finalist, he finished No. 7 in the final Heisman voting. Just three years ago, Stetson Bennett made the trip to New York and finished No. 4 in the Heisman race. Even though both quarterbacks did not win the Heisman, their success to be listed as a top 10 finalist is worth mentioning.
Georgia is one of six teams in the nation to produce multiple different quarterbacks in the Heisman top 10 since 2020. The only teams that have more than them is Ohio State with three and Alabama with four. To show just how impressive this is, the number of Heisman finalist quarterbacks Georgia has produced in the past five years is more than USC and Oregon. In fact, it is more than Oklahoma, Florida, Penn State, Texas, and Notre Dame combined.
Names like Dylan Raiola and Jared Curtis have flipped their commitment to other programs for undefined reasons. Even Justin Fields transferred to Ohio State in 2019 as well. When speaking of programs to go to for success at the quarterback position, teams like LSU and Florida are always mentioned.
However, top high school QB recruits should come to Georgia. Kirby Smart is better at producing talented quarterbacks than the national media gives him credit for, and that is the one thing high school recruits should care about the most.
