Former Georgia football star quarterback Stetson Bennett has been one of the top players in the entire NFL this preseason. Unfortunately Bennett will not get a chance to play in the Los Angeles Rams final preseason game as he has been benched in favor of fourth string quarterback Dresser Winn.
Stetson Bennett to ride the bench during final preseason game
Bennett started the first two preseason games for the Rams and played every offensive snap except for a handful. And during those two games, Bennett showed that he is a legit candidate to be a starter in the NFL in the coming years.
This was especially the case during the Rams most recent preseason game where Bennett completed 28 of 40 passes for 324 yards, three touchdowns and just one interception. One of his three touchdowns came with just seven seconds remaining in the game which gave the Rams the lead for good over the Chargers.
It is unfortunate that Bennett will not get a another chance to prove himself in the Rams final preseason game this year, but that is not a reason for him or Georgia fans to be concerned. Head coach Sean McVay explained that this decision was made so their fourth string QB can get some live reps before the regular season begins.
This is the exact schedule that the Rams followed last season, so that proves even further that there is nothing for anyone to be worried about.
Bennett however needs as many chances as he can get if he is ever going to become a starting quarterback in the NFL. Unfortunately he will not be getting that chance this weekend when the Rams take on the Cleveland Browns.
Bennett however is secure as the third string quarterback with the Rams, so there is still a slim chance he gets some playing time during the regular season this year.
