Former Georgia football quarterback Stetson Bennett is making the most of his time with the Los Angeles Rams. Bennett is entering year three with the Rams and so far this offseason he is proving he not only belongs in the NFL, but potentially deserves to be an NFL starter.

The Rams first preseason game was this past weekend, and Bennett led the Rams to a victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Bennett was the only quarterback to play for the Rams in this game because of an injury to starter Matthew Stafford, but Bennett took advantage of this opportunity and shined on the biggest stage he has seen in his NFL career.

After the game Bennett was asked what has led to him feeling comfortable as an NFL quarterback at this point in his career, and he pointed to Stafford, who is a fellow Georgia superstar QB, as a big reason why he is confident in his abilities with the Rams.

"I don't think there could be a better guy in the room than Matthew (Stafford). You know, a guy who's seen it all, been through it all, highs and lows," Bennett said via 247sports.com. "Just the way he goes out and handles each day, people throw it around, but he's a total pro. Nine's nine [referring to Stafford's jersey number], and I try to learn as much from him and just apply it the best I can."

Bennett and Stafford have formed a nice bond with the LA Rams

The moemnt Bennett was drafted by the Rams in the 2023 NFL Draft everyone knew that he and Stafford would form a great bond. Sure Bennett would be chasing Stafford from further down the depth chart, but both being former stars at UGA would give them a unique relationship not many quarterbacks experience in the NFL.

Bennett knew joining the Rams meant that he would never pass Stafford on the depth chart and become their starting quarterback, but he tood advantage of having one of the best QBs of this generation to learn from. And it appears that having the past two years to learn from Stafford has helped Bennett shine in the Rams preseason game last weekend.

Stafford should be healthy enough to start when the regular season begins, so Bennett unfortunately won't get a chance just yet in a regular season game. But Bennett's future NFL journey is becoming more and more clear and it is seeming increasingly likely that he could be an NFL starter in a few short years.
