Former Georgia football quarterback Stetson Bennett is yet to make a name for himself in the NFL, but that is quickly beginning to change this preseason.

Bennett is still the third quarterback on the depth chart for the Los Angeles Rams, but a recent injury to starter Matthew Stafford has given Bennett more opportunities than he normally would have during the preseason.

His biggest opportunity came on Aug. 9 in the Rams first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys where he was the only quarterback to get playing time, and he helped lead the Rams to a big 31-21 victory over the Cowboys.

Bennett was one of the biggest reasons why the Rams were able to beat Dallas this past weekend as he completed 16 of 24 passes for 188 yards. He also threw two touchdown passes while only throwing one interception as well.

Bennett's best throw of the game came on a key 4th down play early in the first quarter where he connected with Xavier Smith for a 39 yard gain through a tight window down the sideline.

Stafford will more than likely be healthy by the time the regular season begins, so Bennett may not get too many opportunities to take the field during the season. But he should expect to get a lot more chances in the Rams final two preseason games, and if he continues to play well then his future could be very bright.

Bennett still has two more years in his contract with Los Angeles, and this contract ends at the same time as Staffords. So if Bennett continues to impress in practice and in preseason games then maybe the Rams will be ready to give him the reigns in two years. There also is a chance that another team could see how well Bennett is doing and decide to sign him as their starter in two years as well.

Every Georgia fan knows what Bennett is capable of, all he needs is a few opportunities and the sky is the limit for him in the NFL. Thankfully he is beginning to get those opportunities, so don't be surprised to see Bennett become a starting QB in the near future somewhere in the NFL.
