Georgia football has a lot of position battles occurring during fall camp as players attempt to earn a starting spot for UGA's week one game against Marshall. One of the positions however that is being overlooked is wide receiver.
Many Georgia fans believe that the starting spots at wide receivers are set in stone, but a recent picture from Georgia's practice on Friday shows a wide receiver taking reps with the rest of the starters on offense that no one would expect.

London Humphreys running with the Georgia starters
Kirby Smart this offseason went out and added two elite players at wide receiver from the Transfer Portal. Those two players are USC transfer Zachariah Branch and Texas A&M transfer Noah Thomas. Many Georgia fans believe those two are guaranteed to be starters this fall, but that doesn't appear to be the case based on the above picture.
In the above post from Jon Gruden who was visiting practice on Friday, fans can see junior wide receiver London Humphreys taking reps with the starters. Humphreys is wearing No. 16 and is the wide receiver standing closest to Gruden in the photo.
Humphreys is entering his second season at Georgia after transferring from Vanderbuilt after the 2023 season. Last year during his first year at Georgia, Humphreys tallied 15 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns.
Humphreys clearly has a lot of talent and could be in store for a big season in 2025 if he receives a larger role in the offense, and it looks like that could be the case. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter who fans think the starter should be, all that matters is who the coaching staff believes is the best option for Georgia.
And if they think that means Humphreys should start at wide receiver, then so be it.
