There is a lot on the line when Georgia and Texas take the field Saturday night. This game has a lot of College Football Playoff implications on it as a loss for Texas would completely eliminate them from CFP contention. But this game will also have a huge impact on who plays in the SEC Championship game this year because whoever loses will no longer have a shot at making it to Atlanta.
But that apparently is the last thing on the minds of Texas right now because it sounds like they don’t care about winning the conference. For better or worse their players are reportedly calling their matchup with Georgia their SEC Championship game which objectively makes very little sense.

Texas makes bold proclamation before playing Georgia
Texas acting like this game means more to them than winning the SEC is a bit strange. While winning this game is extremrly important, no regular season game matters more than winning the conference. That is the case even if this is a must win for Texas to be able to make it to the SEC Championship game.
But the Longhorns reportedly care more about this game than winning the SEC.
Texas did lose to Georgia twice last season, so that might explain why this game means so much to them. But this game means just as much to Georgia as well, but they still know that winning an SEC title is far more important than any one regular season game.
So while Texas gears up for their Super Bowl against Georgia, the Bulldogs are staying focused on the bigger picture. They are preparing to make a run at the actual SEC Championship, and even though they have to beat Texas to get there they aren’t going to act like beating the Longhorns is more important than winning the SEC.
