One of the biggest losses for Georgia football on the recruiting trail this offseason came when UGA lost the commitment five-star defensive linemanJames Johnson had previously given them. Johnson originally committed to Georgia on June 28, then just two weeks later on July 15 he ditched UGA and flipped to Texas.
This was obviously a massive win for the Longhorns at the time, but a new report indicates that Johnson may already be looking to flip to a new school just one month later.

Former Georgia commit looking to flip commitment again
According to Rivals’ Marcus Benjamin, Johnson is hearing from two other programs a lot since committing to Texas. Those programs are Miami (FL) and Florida, who appear to be all in on flipping Johnson from Texas.
It’s one thing for schools to be aggressively pursuing a committed player and it’s another for that recruit to actually be interested in them, but in this case it does look like Johnson is very interested in these schools. Benjamin also shared in this report that Johnson is looking to make visits to both schools this fall for a game day visit as well, so there is no greater sign that he is interested than that.
It’s worth mentioning that Georgia was not discussed as a school that is pursuing Johnson at this time. That could change in the in the future as he clearly had a good relationship with UGA in the past, but for now the Bulldogs don’t seem interested in attempting to recruit Johnson again.
This will be a fun recruitment for Georgia fans to follow even if Johnson won’t end up at UGA. At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter who he plays for if it isn’t Georgia, but seeing Texas suffer the same fate as UGA would be fun to watch after they originally stole Johnson from Georgia.
