The 2025 college football season is right around the corner, and since it is still the offseason ,hope is at an all time high for all 16 teams in the SEC. However, everyone knows those hopes will immediately go away for some teams once the season begins.
So who are those teams that really shouldn't be looking forward to the 2025 season as much as others?
There may not be many teams capable of winning the SEC this season, but these four teams stand absolutely no chance of winning the SEC title or even being a contender to make it there in the first place.
4 teams that stand no chance at winning an SEC Championship
1. Mississippi State Bulldogs
2. Kentucky Wildcats
3. Arkansas Razorbacks
4. Vanderbilt Commodores
What is the best scenario for these teams?
Unfortunately for Mississippi State, Kentucky, Arkansas and Vanderbilt, there is just no chance that they even contend for an SEC Championship, let alone win it. Some of that might have to do with the extreme difficulty of their schedule or not having a roster anywhere near good enough to compete in a conference like the SEC, but the fact of the matter is that these teams will not be in contention to win the SEC this year and will be at the bottom of the SEC rankings all season.
So what should fans of these four teams expect to happen this season? Just because they won't win the SEC doesn't mean they can't win a few conference games, so that should be the goal for these four teams. They also should expect to win all or most of their non-conference games, especially the ones that are against non power five teams.
All four of these teams do have an outside chance at making a bowl game, and if they accomplish that they should consider the 2025 season a massive success. And while that accomplishment would be far less than what some other SEC teams will accomplish this season, there is nothing wrong with that. Every conference has their teams that are at the bottom, and if these teams want to work their way up to competing with the big boys they have to start somewhere.
And in this case that is trying to win six games to get to a bowl game.
