There are a lot of reasons Georgia football fans should be feeling really good about their team after the Bulldogs week one win against Marshall. Gunner Stockton shined in the first home start of his career while Zachariah Branch lived up to the hype he had coming into the program from USC.

Even Georgia's defense played extremely well on Saturday with players making big plays all over the field. But the surprise absence of star corner Daylen Everette is the biggest concern Georgia should have coming out of their week one victory.

Daylen Everette's health is a major concern

Georgia fans had no clue that Everette even had an injury until UGA's defense took the field for the first time against Marshall on Saturday. Everette was a guaranteed starter for the Bulldogs this season, so the fact he wasn't on the field was startling.

This sent fans into a frenzy all game long as they were unable to get an answer that would explain Everette's absence. Thankfully that explanation did come from Kirby Smart after the game, but in true Smart fashion he didn't say much. All Smart shared was that Everette hurt his ankle at the beginning of last week and he was unable to play because of it.

This obviously isn't enough information for Georgia fans, but Smart thankfully gave a slightly more detailed update on Tuesday during his press conference.

"Ankle injury seems to be doing well, and he (Everette) was able to run and do some things," Smart said via 247sports.com.

This update unfortunately does not share when Everette will return to the field, but it is a good sign that he is able to run around and participate in practice at some capacity. However, it is probably unlikely that he plays against Austin Peay this weekend simply because he isn't needed to beat an opponent as overmatched as Austin Peay is.

So holding him out one more week in hopes of having him return when Georgia travels to Tennessee in week three seems like the smartest choice right now.
