Georgia football fans are still pretty dang fired up over 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis committing to the program on Monday. Curtis was down to the Dawgs and Oregon, telling Dan Lanning and Co. thanks, but no thanks.
It's a massive recruiting win for Georgia for several reasons. With that said, maybe Curtis would be Eugene-bound if it wasn't for the one and only Mike Bobo. The Georgia offensive coordinator played a huge role in Curtis deciding Athens is where he needs to call home for his college career. Indeed, Bobo deserves a huge assist for Kirby Smart landing one of the top playmakers in the country:
The Jared Curtis commitment was a win for Mike Bobo in an offseason where the criticism has been loud. @MikeGriffith32 and I discussed tonight during "On The Beat"

Georgia OC Mike Bobo deserves a ton of credit for landing 5-star QB Jared Curtis
It's not news to say that Bobo is a controversial assistant. Last season, Georgia fans had it with him, with plenty of people calling for him to be fired. His offense looked vanilla at times, which was frustrating. However, we can't forget that Bobo's offense was one of the best in the country in 2023, his first season as OC with the Bulldogs.
Was last year disappointing? Sure, but Smart has all the trust in the world in him and it's time for fans to keep backing him as well. Getting Curtis to commit is enough to get some of his haters off of his back as well, as the Nashville product was being chased by several powerhouses.
Throughout his recruitment, Curtis picked up 40 offers. He's ranked five stars, the No. 1 QB in the country and No. 2 prospect nationally according to the 247Sports Composite. Funny enough, the only prospect he's behind in the national rankings is 5-star tackle Jackson Cantwell, who gets to UGA on Saturday for one final visit before making his decision.
Curtis didn't hesitate in saying that he's ready to recruit Cantwell to join him as a member of Georgia's 2026 class. Can you imagine if the elite OT prospect ends up giving Smart the news he's hoping for? It'd be a domino effect and one that so many out there are calling for. And to think, Bobo helped get everything going there.
