The transfer portal officially opens on Wednesday, meaning that Georgia football fans will once again have to sit on the edge of their seats to see if any players from UGA enter the portal. However, transfer portal season is an exciting time as well because Georgia will once again be on the prowl as they look for more players to add to their roster.
One of the positions that Georgia would be wise to target in the portal is EDGE as there are some questions surrounding the depth of this group. The good thing for Georgia is that they do not need to go after someone with multiple years of eligibility as they have plenty of young talent, they just need someone for one to two years that can help out as these young Bulldogs get up to speed.
And knowing that is the criteria Georgia is looking for, the perfect player for UGA at EDGE just announced that they will be entering the portal.

Troy transfer EDGE Phillip Lee
Phillip Lee is a transfer EDGE from Troy. He has spent his first three seasons at Troy where he struggled to make his name known as a freshman and sophomore. But this past season as a junior he excelled and really put his name on the map.
During the 2024 season, Lee recorded 30 tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defended in 11 games played. After this solid junior season, Lee will be entering the portal when his stock is at an all time high in hopes of moving up to the power four level for his final season of college football.
The question now is if Kirby Smart and his staff will show any interest. As mentioned, most people believe Georgia needs some help at EDGE and it would be quite crazy for UGA to not bring in at least one EDGE from the portal this spring. So if the staff is looking for a player they can use for one season, then Lee might be one of the best options out there.
