Top 5 wins during Kirby Smart's Georgia football tenure
What a run it has been for Kirby Smart during his tenure as head coach at Georgia. In less than nine seasons, Smart has already earned his 100th career victory as head coach of the Bulldogs.
This is a significant achievement for any coach at any program, but Smart hitting this mark as quickly as he did makes him stand above nearly every other coach that has reached 100 wins.
Looking back on the past nine seasons, there are so many wins that stand out to me. SEC championships, national championships, and hard fought rivalry wins all come flooding to my mind. With so many options, it's difficult to pick just five wins as my favorite from Smart's tenure.
But I'm going to do my best and rank the top five wins from Smart's tenure at Georgia.
5. Kirby's 100th win at No. 1 Texas
This may be textbook recency bias from me, but in the fifth spot I have to go with Smart's win that got him to number 100. Thankfully this game on it's own was big enough where it may deserve to be on this list without it being Smart's 100th.
As you all know, Georgia entered this game on Saturday as underdogs for the first time since 2021. Everyone was picking Texas to win, but none of that mattered. Georgia got off to a quick start and led 23-0 at the half.
Credit to the Longhorns for making the game interesting in the third quarter (thanks to some help from the officials), but UGA finished the game strong behind a dominant defensive performance. The Bulldogs knocked off the top ranked Longhorns in their own stadium 30-15 to announce to the college football world that they are in fact still national championship contenders.
