Georgia football has been trending in the right direction with many of the top recruits in the country. But one name that continues to come up is four-star safety Jordan Smith.

According to 247Sports, Smith is the No. 56 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 6 safety in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 5 overall player from his home state of Georgia as well.

Since he is such a highly ranked recruit from the state of Georgia, it would be wise for Kirby Smart and his staff to do everything in their power to persuade Smith to stay in the state and play for Georgia. Thankfully that is exactly what Smart is doing and it appears Smith is taking notice and is heavily leaning towards the Bulldogs right now.

“I am trying to keep my options, but my interest is high on Georgia.”

Georgia appears to be the team to beat

Smith himself was recently quoted saying that his interest is "high" on Georgia, which is a great thing to see. This however does not mean the Bulldogs are the clear leader, but there are other signs that Georgia is the No. 1 team in this recruitment right now.

While there are other schools who have scheduled an official visit with Smith, Georgia was the first school to do so. Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Florida State will also host Smith later this summer, but it is Georgia who convinced him to come to campus first which will take place on May 30.

On top of that, Smith has also visted Athens a lot already, including earlier this offseason during Georgia's second Junior Day of the year.

While it may still be some time before Smith announces a commitment, Georgia has to love their chances right now. So don't be surprised if Smith does make an official commitment to UGA after his visit in May without even taking his other official visits.
