One of Georgia football's priority targets in the 2026 recruiting class is four-star corner Jorden Edmonds. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Edmonds is the No. 40 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 4 player from his home state of Georgia and the No. 3 corner in the country.

Edmonds is someone that has been high on Georgia for quite some time as well as he has recently visited Georgia for one of their two Junior Days back in January. He also named Georgia as one of his finalists for his commitment date that was supposed to take place in February. However, his commitment was pushed back for reasons unknown at the time.

Edmonds however recently opened up about why he pushed his commitment back, and the first reason he stated really doesn't share any information about his recruitment.

"The first reason of course was, well the first reason was because the school had construction at the time of the commitment ceremony," Edmonds shared via uga.rivals.com. "The ceremony wouldn't be possible."

There's likely more to the story

While his school going through construction is likely one reason for the delay, there could potentially be more to the story. There is more information shared in the above post if you are a Rivals subscriber, but there is one explanation that Georgia fans are hoping is the real explanation for this delay.

And that is that Edmonds is having second thoughts about where he wants to go.

It wasn't 100 percent clear where Edmonds was leaning towards committing, but Alabama appeared to be the favorite. The Tide had the only crystal ball prediction in their favor on 247Sports, which is a prediction that came right before his original commitment date. So it appeared that Alabama was the most likely landing spot had Edmonds announced a commitment in February like he originally planned.

If that is the case, then this is good news for Georgia because it now gives Kirby Smart and his staff more time to recruit Edmonds and change his mind. A new commitment date has not been publicly shared yet, so this too could be a great sign that Edmonds might be second guessing where he wants to commit to.
