Georgia football has been the hottest team in the country on the recruiting trail. Every day it seems like the Bulldogs are getting more and more good news, and the bad news for the program has been almost nonexistent as well.

That however changed late Sunday night as a top target for Georgia announced on social media that he has cancelled his official visit to Georgia.

3-star Malcolm Gaston no longer visiting Georgia

Malcolm Gaston is a three-star offensive lineman who was planning on making an official visit to Georgia next weekend beginning on June 20. This visit was one of the most anticipated for this weekend because there were a lot of hopes that he would commit to Georgia while in town.

This didn’t seem like a pipe dream either because Georgia had two crystal ball predictions on 247Sports claiming Gaston would commit to UGA. These predictions however seem outdated now because Gaston no longer will be coming to Athens this weekend. This doesn’t 100 percent guarantee Georgia is out of the running for Gaston, but it does make it seem that way.

While losing any recruitment is tough to see, this loss wouldn’t be the end of the world for Georgia. For starters, the Bulldogs already have three offensive line commits in the 2026 class, and they are trending well with a few other offensive linemen as well. Gaston also is only the No. 513 player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings, so he was never a “must have” recruit.

This recruitment however will still go down as a loss if Gaston does commit to another program. Right now it’s looking like Virginia Tech might be that team because they are the only program to have hosted him on an official visit so far, but time will tell if this is actually the end for Kirby Smart and Georgia in this recruitment or not.
