Kirby Smart and his staff are beginning their spring practice schedule this week, and Georgia football has quickly become the place to be for all of the top recruits in the 2026 recruiting class. This is nothing new for Georgia to host the top players in the country, but that doesn't mean these visits aren't extremely important.
Two of the nation's best players will be in Athens this week, and they are both the No. 1 player in the country at their position. So let's dive in and see who those players are and where Georgia stands with them.
5-star QB Jared Curtis
Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback in the country and is the first big name recruit heading to Athens this week. But this isn't a normal visit for a few reasons.
For starters, Curtis will be at Georgia beginning March 13 through 16. That is an extremely long time to take an unofficial visit to a school, but he is also currently doing the same with Oregon.
Oregon and Georgia are the two finalists for Curtis, so it goes without saying how massive this visit is for Georgia. As mentioned, Curtis is currently on a long visit to Oregon and will immediately head to UGA when that is complete, so hopefully Smart and his staff are ready to impress Curtis so they can position themselves above the Ducks.
5-star LB Tyler Atkinson
Five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson is the second big name player visiting Georgia this week as he will be on campus on Tuesday. Atkinson is the nation's No. 1 linebacker as well as the top ranked player from Georgia, so this is a recruitment the Bulldogs will want to win to prevent Atkinson from leaving the state.
Atkinson has named Georgia as one of his finalists along with schoos like Auburn, Alabama and Ohio State. Georgia does appear to be the leader in this recruitment, but there is still a lot of work to do before Georgia will earn his commitment.
