Georgia football has had an up and down relationship with the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. That player is Jared Curtis, who also is the No. 2 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Curtis is a one time commit of the Bulldogs, but that commitment did not hold as Curtis decommitted from the program back in 2024. That however did not end his relationship with Georgia as the Bulldogs remained as one of his top schools into 2025. That is when the major update in his recruitment unfolded as the Bulldogs were named as one of his two finalists, along with Oregon.

It is unclear what the timeline for Curtis looks like when it comes to him announcing his final commitment, but that likely will occur later this summer after he takes an official visit to both schools. But he also is gearing up for extra long visits to both programs this week.

Pivotal visits are coming for Curtis

Curtis will take an unofficial visit to Oregon beginning March 8, a visit that will go until the 12th. After that visit is complete, he will head all the way to Athens to visit Georgia from the 13th through the 16th.

These visits are crucial for a few reasons, the first being that it is the first visits Curtis will make since announcing Georgia and Oregon as his two finalists. However, it is also important to note how long both of these visits are. It is very uncommon for a recruit to make a visit for this many days at any one school, so Curtis will have a great chance to learn a lot about each program to see where he thinks he fits in best.

It is unlikely that Curtis will announce a commitment after these visits, but there is always a chance that it could happen. So hopefully Kirby Smart and his staff put their best foot forward so Georgia can at worst have a leg up over Oregon after these visits.
