Georgia desperately needs another offensive tackle in their 2026 recruiting class. The Bulldogs thought they found that player in Jared Doughty, but he unfortunately committed to Alabama over the Bulldogs a few days ago.
While this was bad news for Georgia, it wasn’t the end of the world quite yet because Doughty still planned to take an official visit to Georgia for their game against Ole Miss. But according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, those plans have changed.

Doughty planned to continue to take his OVs to Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Auburn, and Missouri
He’s now cancelled his trips to each https://t.co/KsjuZnbI10 pic.twitter.com/5F0Ca235lU
Georgia’s most important recruit turns their back on UGA
As mentioned, Doughty still planned to take an official visit to Georgia even after committing to Alabama. But the above report indicates that this visit, along with four others, have officially been canceled. This ends Doughty’s recruitment as he has decided he will be playing for the Crimson Tide next season.
Doughty originally was committed to Georgia State, but the Bulldogs came in and offered him seemingly out of nowhere. This led many other programs, like Alabama, to follow suit and offer him as week. It was at this point Doughty decommitted from Georgia State to pursue his new suitors.
Georgia appeared to be the team to beat ever since Doughty decommitted, and that remained the case when he visited Athens for their game against Alabama. But instead of growing closer to Georgia, he fell in love with the Crimson Tide and committed to Alabama just days later.
Georgia is in a tough spot now because they are running out of options at offensive tackle. The Bulldogs have just one tackle committed to their 2026 recruiting class, and they have made it very clear that they want a second. At this point no one knows who Georgia is targeting to fill that void, but the Bulldogs are quickly running out of time.
