Five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro is one of Georgia’s top commits in their 2026 recruiting class. Prothro made his commitment to Georgia official in July as he chose the Bulldogs over a few other big time SEC programs like Texas, Alabama and Auburn.

Florida, who is one of Georgia’s biggest rivals, was a finalist for Prothro as well. In fact, they even hosted him on an official visit this past summer as well. But it was during that visit to Florida that Prothro shared that he realized that he knew he wanted to commit and play for Georgia.

“That was when I most likely knew after the Florida visit,” Prothro shared via dawgnation.com. “Just ready to get the recruitment process over and just lock in with a team that is great. Just what they do there. Just going to a lot of visits, I narrowed it down and knew that Georgia was the best fit for me.”

Prothro then went into more detail, and shared that he specifically knew that Georgia was the right school for him during breakfast one morning on his Florida visit.

“It looks like we are going to be going to a lot of Georgia games,” Prothro told his father at breakfast during his Florida official visit.

Florida visit confirmed that Georgia was the right place for Kaiden Prothro

Wining the recruitment for any five-star is always a big deal, but beating a big rival like Florida along the way makes it even better. But the fact that Prothro realized Georgia was the right place for him during his visit to Florida makes this win that much better.

Florida is a good school, no one can deny that, but they recently haven’t even been close to stacking up to Georgia as a program. And this revelation from Prothro is just another example of how dominant the Bulldogs are over the rival Gators.
