Trevor Etienne "excited" to play Florida, former teammates
Georgia football has a date with rival Florida approaching quickly as the Bulldogs take on the Gators Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3:30 pm EST. There will always be a million interesting storylines heading into any rivalry game, but this game has a very intriguing storylie that isn't too common in colelge football.
Georgia running back Trevor Etienne's first game against his former team.
It is extremely common in college football today to see players play against their former team, thanks to the transfer portal. But what is still very uncommon is to see a player transfer to a rival school. But thankfully for Georgia fans, that is exactly what Etienne did.
Etienne recently spoke about going against his former team, and instead of talking bad about them or taking a shot at them, he had nothing but good things to say about the upcoming game.
"I’m excited. I get to see some of my former teammates,” Etienne said via dawgnation.com. “There’s nothing but love for those guys. I can’t wait to get out there and compete against those guys.”
Trevor Etienne shares his excitement to battle with former teammates
Man is it nice that Etienne didn't give Florida any bulletin board material here. In fact, Etienne did the exact opposite, he gave his former team and teammates a lot of love.
Etienne was a four-star out of high school and committed to the Gators where he played for two seasons. While with the Gators, Etienne racked up 1,472 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
Etienne clearly has a lot of good history with Florida, and it's likely safe to say that he has a lot of former teammates that he still loves and speaks with to this day.
While this game will be heated on Saturday, it is refreshing to see that Etienne isn't making things personal with Florida. In fact, he seems thrilled just to be able to see his former teammates.
I'm sure Florida and their fans feel differently because Etienne left them (thankfully), but this is a storyline you are going to want to pay close attention to so you can see how the Florida fanbase reacts to going up against their former star running back.
