It is no secret that Georgia football’s offense struggled all season long. That is arguably the biggest reason why the Bulldogs fell short in the College Football Playoff this season.

To be fair, the offense wasn’t horrible as UGA did still win 11 games this year as well as the SEC Championship. But the offense left a lot to be desired and is something every Georgia fan hopes is much better in 2025.

Georgia’s star running back Trevor Etienne and offensive lineman Tate Ratledge both spoke about the offense’s struggles from this past season at the NFL Combine, and they both happened to give very similar answers.

“I feel like at Georgia, something we struggled with this season was the execution,” Etienne shared via uga.rivals.com. “If you go back and look at a lot of those games, we were trailing at times. So, it's kind of hard to run the ball when you kind of need a touchdown desperately. So that's probably part of the reason, if I had to say any specific reason.”

"If you really watch that film, most of it's on us, it's not coaching," Ratledge said via si.com. "It's execution, taking the right steps, the little things. I think a lot of success, or lack thereof, was on us as players and that starts with us up front and we take full accountability for that."

Lack of execution

Etienne and Ratledge were interviewed separately, so it is interesting that both players gave very similar responses. But it does make a lot of sense to say that Georgia’s issues on offense were due to a lack of execution.

Georgia’s roster is just as good if not better than every other team they played last season, yet their offense struggled in almost every game. Things like missed assignments, dropping passes and lack of focus were prevalent all season, so it’s not surprising that both Etienne and Ratledge shared this same feeling.

However, the most interesting remark by far was when Ratledge said the coaches were not to blame. A lot of fans were upset with Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo this year, with many calling for him to be fired after Georgia’s loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff. But according to Ratledge, he doesn’t deserve any blame.

Hopefully this lack of execution is a thing of the past, that way Georgia can make a better run at a National Championship this coming season.
