Georgia football has to find an answer at wide receiver this season. Last year the Bulldogs led the nation in drops, and that can’t happen again.

Someone has to step up in Georgia’s wide receiver room both on and off the field if things are going to be different this season, and according to Kirby Smart that player so far is London Humphreys.

"London is one of our leaders. He sets the tone each and every day," Smart shared via 247sports.com.

Georgia fans will see more of London Humphreys this season

Humphreys is entering his second season at Georgia after transferring from Vanderbilt, and during the 2024 season he had a solid campaign where he recorded 15 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

This by no means was good enough to be a leader of Georgia’s group last season, but according to Smart, Humphreys is taking on a leadership role this fall.

On top of being one of the leaders of Georgia’s wide receiver room off the field, it appears he may be in line to be a starter this season as well. This may seem unlikely because of who else is in UGA’s wide receiver room, but Humphreys was pictured working with the other starters earlier this month.

This however could mean nothing, but it could be a sign that Humphreys will not only be a vocal leader for this group, but one of the leaders on the field as well.

Georgia fans however do not care who starts at receiver this fall. All they care about is that the group is much better than last season. So if that means Humphreys is one of the statistical leaders this year then that’s great, but at the end of the day it does not matter. But the good news is that a lot of Georgia’s receivers have been doing very well this fall, so Smart and Gunner Stockton should have a lot of reliable weapons at their disposal this season.
