Georgia football is one day away from their season-defining matchup against Alabama. Unfortunately they are going to be without their starting right tackle Earnest Greene who has just been ruled out for Saturday’s contest.

Georgia injury update: Earnest Greene ruled out for Alabama game
Greene originally was listed as doubtful for Saturday’s game on Georgia’s first injury report of the week. This made it seem extremely unlikely that he would play, but there was a sliver of hope that remained. That hope unfortunately no longer exists after Greene was downgraded to out on Thursday.
Greene first suffered an injury during Georgia’s season opener against Marshall. This injury caused him to miss their week two game against Austin Peay before making his return to the starting lineup at Tennessee. Unfortunately Greene’s injury was still bothering him against the Volunteers, so he missed a large portion of time in that game.
The hope was that Greene would get be healthy in time to play Alabama since Georgia is coming off a bye, but that unfortunately did not happen.
Michael Uini will likely be called upon to replace Greene in Georgia’s starting lineup either at right tackle or right guard. True freshman Juan Gaston could slide to the tackle spot and Uini could play guard, but it’s unclear at this time how that will shake out.
Georgia fans however shouldn’t be worried about Uini replacing Greene because he played a big role in the Bulldogs comeback win at Tennessee. He has already seen a lot of action in a big game this year, so the stage won’t be too big for him on Saturday.
Georgia and Alabama’s showdown is scheduled for 7:30 pm EST Saturday night with the winner of this game taking control of their fate in the race for the SEC Championship.
