Georgia football fans want nothing more than to forget about the six years when Urban Meyer was Florida's head coach. Meyer not only won two National Championships while at Florida, but he had a dominant 5-1 record against the Bulldogs from 2005-2010 while he was the Gators head coach.

Meyer thankfully didn't last long at Florida because he moved on to other opportunities, but he was as dominant as any coach could be while in charge of the Gators program. Unfortunately he has offered his assistance to Florida ahead of Georgia's matchup with the Gators this Saturday.

"I wanted to have a chance to talk to him (Meyer) a little bit about the team concept," Florida interim head coach Billy Gonzales shared via ugawire.usatoday.com. "One of the unique things he talked about, and we talked about, is you're walking into a situation where it's not the perfect situation for you, Billy, but at the same time you want to make sure you're here for the players. We've got a bunch of seniors on this football team. We've got a bunch of underclassmen that are fighting and are going to do everything they can to be successful."

Florida has turned to Urban Meyer to help beat Georgia

Last week Florida parted ways with head coach Billy Napier. They then turned to wide receiver coach Billy Gonzales to be the Gators interim head coach for the rest of the season.

This will be Gonzales's first taste of being a head coach, and having to go up against Kirby Smart and Georgia in his first game is no small task. So what did he do? He reached out to Meyer to ask for his advice leading into this matchup with Georgia this weekend.

Meyer thankfully will not be taking on a role within the Florida program, but finding out he is helping the Gators out in any capacity is a little concerning. It's unclear how much assistance he is offering Florida, but Meyer is one of the best coaches of this era of college football, so his presence will make Florida a better team.

Georgia is still expected to beat Florida by a comfortable margin, but Meyer's advice to Gonzales should give the Gators a better chance at putting up a fight.

Kickoff between Georgia and Florida is scheduled for 3:30 pm EST on Saturday, Nov. 1.
