Is any Georgia fan scared of Alabama anymore? Once upon a time they were the one team that Georgia couldn’t get past, but that no longer is the case.

Lat year Georgia took down Alabama in the SEC Championship game. That actually isn’t the best way to describe that game because UGA dominated the Tide the moment both teams stepped onto the field.

Georgia and Alabama for the third year in a row will meet in the regular season. Vegas oddsmakers have already released their opening spread for this game (and other big games throughout the season), and Vegas odds show that Alabama so no longer in the same league as Georgia anymore.

Georgia opens as a big favorite over Alabama

At the start of June Georgia was a 2.5 point favorite over Alabama. That number has grown to four points which may not seem like a lot, but considering Georgia is the road team this shows how confident Vegas is in UGA.

Two years ago though Georgia was predicted to beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa too. They were also the favorite last year in Athens as well. Both outcomes ended in defeat for Georgia, but the Bulldogs got their confidence back after destroying Alabama in the SEC Championship game.

Now Georgia has to find a way to beat Alabama in the regular season for the first time in Kirby Smart's career. Vegas thinks they will pull it off this year, and looking at the rest of the odds they released they actually think Georgia is significantly better than Alabama.

The gap between Georgia and Alabama has never been greater

Four points may not seem like a lot, but in sports betting it is. That is especially the case when the road team is the one that is favored by four points.

The general consensus is that home field advantage gives a team an extra three point advantage compared to a neutral site game. Then there is another three point advantage going from a neutral site matchup to being the home team. So based on this known Vegas trend Georgia would be predicted to beat Alabama by seven points on a neutral field and a whopping 10 points if they played in Athens.

That not only is a significant margin, but it shows that Alabama isn't even close to Georgia right now.

To put this into perspective, Alabama is a 10.5 point favorite against Auburn in the Iron Bowl this year as the home team. So Vegas is saying that the gap between Georgia and Alabama is the same as the gap between Alabama and Auburn.

Has that ever been the case in anyone's lifetime?

Alabama's downfall has been occurring ever since Nick Saban retired. The Tide's recruiting classes are much worse than they've ever been, and they not only were embarrassed by Georgia in the SEC title game but they lost by 35 to Indiana at the Rose Bowl. And this year their odds to win the SEC are significantly worse than Georgia's.

Georgia has to back this data up on the field for it to mean anything, but Vegas thinks they are much better than Alabama and that is a refreshing thing to see.
