Georgia football opened as a pretty substantial favorite over Texas for their matchup this weekend. The Bulldogs were originally listed as 5.5 point favorites which is quite large for a game featuring two teams ranked inside the top 10.
Vegas however decided to change the spread to 6.5 points within 24 hours because the public was very high on Georgia’s chances to cover the spread. That is where the spread stayed for a few days, but Vegas once again has decided to change the spread again.
Georgia vs Texas spread is on the move
Vegas oddsmakers can’t seem to make up their minds when it comes to this spread. Changing a spread one time isn’t that abnormal, but moving it a second time is a bit strange.
As of Thursday morning, Vegas has gone back to what they originally thought and have Georgia listed as a 5.5 point favorite now.
After falling to 3-2 after starting the season as the No. 1 team in the country, Texas is now riding a four game win streak and are back in the top 10 of the College Football Playoff rankings. They are also coming off a bye week so they will be well rested and extremely prepared for this game. These factors might explain why the line shifted a little bit in Texas's favor, but the Bulldogs are still a substantial favorite.
Georgia enters this game with a five game win streak of their own. They also have a win over Florida, which is a team Texas lost to, and a far more dominant victory over Mississippi State as well. So while Vegas did shift the line in the Longhorns favor a little bit, Georgia is rightfully still a comfortable favorite.
At the end of the day Georgia should not care if they cover this spread. As long as they win by just one point they will be able to come away from this game feeling very good about themselves going into the rest of the season.
