Georgia unfortunately isn't playing in the National Championship game this season, but that doesn't mean this game isn't super important. The Indiana Hoosiers will take on the Miami Hurricanes on Jan. 19, and this game is one that Georgia will be watching extremely closely.
Former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has a chance to win a national title with the Hurricanes, and that is the last thing anyone at UGA wants to see. The good news is that Vegas oddsmakers are giving Miami a very slim chance of beating Indiana and winning it all.
Vegas oddsmakers give Georgia a reason to remain calm
The opening spread of the Miami and Indiana National Chapmionship game has been released and favors the Hoosiers by 7.5 points. National Championship games typically have very small spreads, so Indiana being favored by a touchdown is a wild thing to see. The shock of that spread is amplified even more because Miami gets to play in their home stadium.
But anyone that has been watching the College Football Playoff knows this spread is more than fair. Miami has had an impressive run to the title game as they beat Texas A&M, Ohio State and Ole Miss, but Indiana has had one of the best playoff runs of all time.
Indiana began their playoff run against Alabama at the Rose Bowl which they won 38-3. They then destroyed Oregon in the CFP semifinals Friday night 56-22 to punch their ticket to the National Championship game.
There is a good argument for Indiana to be favored by even more than 7.5 points, but either way Vegas is telling everyone that they don't think Miami can win. And while the Hurricanes are still capable of beating Indiana, it thankfully seems like the chances of that happening are very slim.
