Georgia football earned the 3-seed in the College Football Playoff meaning they get a first round bye. While that is nice because it gives them extra time to rest and get healthy, UGA still doesn't know who their first opponent in the quarterfinals will be.
Georgia does know that they will play the winner of the first round matchup between Tulane and Ole Miss. This game is scheduled for 3:30 pm EST on Saturday, Dec. 20, so in less than a week Georgia will know who their opponent is.
But Vegas oddsmakers revealed a shocking truth about this game as they believe Ole Miss will win with ease and advance to face Georgia in the CFP quarterfinals.
Vegas gave Georgia some inside info on who their next opponent could be
FanDuel Sportsbook heavily favors Ole Miss in their matchup with Tulane. The sportsbook has Ole Miss listed as a 17.5 point favorite which essentially means that they believe Tulane does not stand a chance at winning this game.
So while there is the potential for Tulane to still win, Georgia could use this to their benefit and start preparing like Ole Miss is their opponent. If Tulane does win they will have 10 days to reverse course and start preparing for them, but it probably isnt a bad idea to act like Ole Miss will be their opponent since they are favored by so many points.
Last week Kirby Smart said that he wasn't quite sure how Georgia was going to start preparing for the playoff. A lot of that had to do with the unknown of who they would even be playing. But Vegas believes Ole Miss will destroy Tulane and advance in the playoff, so it may not be a bad idea for Georgia to take their word and start preparing for a rematch with the Rebels.
