Georgia football for the most part has been able to survive the spring transfer portal window without a mass exodus of players leaving the program. As of Tuesday, UGA has had three players enter the portal which include running back Branson Robinson, wide receiver Nitro Tuggle and offensive lineman Marques Easley.

The portal however is still open for another week, which means there is a chance more Bulldogs could decide to find a new home. And that unfortunately is what happened Tuesday morning when defensive back Chris Peal announced his intentions of entering the portal.

Chris Peal enters the transfer portal

Peal just wrapped up his redshirt sophomore season in Athens where he struggled to find his footing. The biggest reason for that are all the injuries he battled which caused him to miss time both during the season and during the offseason.

But entering the 2023 season he saw his first reps at corner where he only recorded one tackle. From there he moved to safety ahead of the 2024 season where he also only recorded one tackle last year.

Peal's spot in Georgia's depth chart heading into the 2025 season was uncertain, but it was clear he was not going to be a starter. That might be the cause of this decision, which makes sense as he only has two more year of eligibility remaining.

It's unclear where Peal will end up transferring to, but his potential should excite a lot of teams. His athleticism is off the charts and he is one of the quickest players in all of college football as he has clocked a 10.5 second 100 meter dash on the track.

The top programs across the country may not show much interest, but Peal will certainly end up on a power four team where he hopefully will get a chance to show what he is capable of on the field.
