Walk-on CB cost Georgia a potential TD with most absurd penalty possible

This can't happen.

This is the kind of sequence that's going to drive Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart up a wall. In the first half of the College Football Playoff showdown between UGA and Notre Dame, both offenses haven't had much success.

Well, the Bulldogs were able to get the fans on their feet, as Gunner Stockton hit Arian Smith for a 67-yard gain. It put the Bulldogs in close range to put a touchdown up on the board. However, walk-on cornerback Parker Jones made contact with an official in the middle of everything, and a 15-yard penalty was called. You've got to be kidding:

Georgia CB Parker Jones was called for one of the worst penalties of the year for UGA

Jones isn't even suited up for this team, yet he's having a negative outcome on things early on. We understand the excitement over a big play like this, but Jones simply has to know better. Georgia fans can complain all they want, but this was 100 percent the right call.

There's a reason that players are supposed to stay back, as officials can't be in a position to get injured. This was clear sideline interference and the right decision was made for laundry to hit the turf. This is something Smart is going to take seriously too, as he'll tell every single player to not let something like this happen again.

With Carson Beck out due to his elbow injury, Georgia can't afford to shoot itself in the foot . We feel bad for Jones, as he's getting ripped to shreds on social media right now after his mishap. At the same time, he needs to be smarter and not wipe away points off the board. The last thing anyone wants to see is Georgia potentially losing this game because of Jones' mental mistake. Let's hope we don't look back on things after the final whistle and have that be the case.
