Georgia’s halftime locker room has to be a scary place right now. After holding a 14-3 lead against Austin Peay at the break, one world assume that Kirby Smart is really getting into his players (specifically the offense) for their poor performance so far.

Georgia likely wants nothing more than to get out of the locker room, get back on the field and show everyone who they really are in the second half. Unfortunately that’s been put on pause as Georgia’s game against Austin Peay has entered a weather delay.

Georgia football vs Austin Peay enters weather delay

No one is afraid of a little rain, but everyone should be afraid of lightning. And as long as lightning is detected within eight miles of the stadium, Georgia’s game against Austin Peay will continue to be delayed.

According to weather delay procedures, every time lightning is detected within eight miles of Sanford Stadium the game will be delayed for 30 more minutes. So there has to be a 30 minutes period with no lightning detections before the teams will take the field and resume play.

This extra time in the locker room will give Georgia a chance to figure out what’s going wrong and make countless adjustments on offense. However, it will also give Smart and the Georgia coaching staff more time to voice their displeasures with their team. And knowing how animated Smart can get, it’s probably getting ugly in there.

Georgia will eventually take the field again and will have their chance to put he first half behind them and dominate Austin Peay like everyone expected. If they don’t then there will be serious concerns about the future of the team this season, but if they can bounce back then maybe Georgia still has hope heading into the SEC season.
