Georgia football left no doubt on Saturday night as they took down Texas 35-10. This win obviously looks very strong considering the Longhorns were a top 10 team in the country, but there is never a guarantee that the AP Poll will reward them for this win.
Even though Georgia had won five games in a row before playing Texas the AP Poll was refusing to move UGA up in their rankings. That however changed on Sunday as the AP voters slid Georgia up one spot to No. 4 in their week 13 rankings.
Georgia jumps Alabama in Week 13 AP Poll
Georgia obviously had to handle their business against Texas to be able to move up the AP Poll, but they did get some help from Alabama. The Crimson Tide lost their second game of the season on Saturday to Oklahoma, and it's this loss that sent Alabama below Georgia in the AP Poll for the first time since they beat UGA earlier this season.
The top three teams remained the same as No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana cruised to easy victories. No. 3 Texas A&M on the other hand stuggled mightily with a 3-7 South Carolina team. The Aggies trailed South Carolina 30-3 at halftime before storming back to win 31-30. While that is an impressive comeback, Texas A&M does not deserve credit for barely beating a bad team.
Their struggles combined with Georgia's big win could have resulted in UGA moving above the Aggies as well, but the AP voters did not do that.
Georgia has just two games left this season against Charlotte and Georgia Tech. These are two games they will be big favorites in, so UGA will more than likely finish the season at 11-1 and ranked inside the top four if not a little higher.
