4 Observations as the SEC enters Week 5
The SEC only had one ranked matchup this past weekend, and Oklahoma emerged victorious against Auburn 24-17. The Sooners have skyrocketed into the top 10 of the AP Poll rankings while also moving up a few spots in the SEC rankings as well. This Oklahoma team has shown they can compete in this conference and are a team everyone needs to take seriously.
While Oklahoma had a big win, Arkansas did the exact opposite and choked a huge lead at Memphis and lost 32-31. The Razorbacks were already a bottom feeder team in the SEC, but this loss cemented themselves as the worst team in the conference right now.
Vanderbilt however is showing that they aren't a bottom feeder team this season, in fact they may be able to compete for an SEC Championship. The Commodores have risen to No. 18 in the AP Poll rankings after a dominant 70-21 win over Georgia State and they don't look like they'll be slowing down anytime soon. In two weeks Vanderbilt has a date at Alabama, and if they win that game they will prove they can most definitely compete for an SEC Championship.
Looking ahead to Week 5 in the SEC
Now that week four is behind the conference, everyone can look ahead to what will be one of the biggest weeks of the regular season. There are multiple huge games across the country and in the SEC, but Georgia and Alabama is one game that everyone will be watching.
ESPN's College GameDay somehow didn't pick this game as their GameDay location for the week, but that doesn't erase how big this game is. The Bulldogs and Crimson are two of the best teams in the SEC, and the winner of this game will have a firm grasp on the No. 1 spot in the SEC.
