What did Kirby Smart tell his team after their loss to Ole Miss?
Georgia football is in a very difficult spot after their 28-10 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday. This is the first time in a few years now that Georgia has lost two games in the regular season, so it’s safe to say that the team and fanbase are feeling very disappointed right now.
So it’s up to Kirby Smart to pick his team up and motivate them for the rest of the season, because they still have all of their goals in front of them.
So what did Smart say to his team directly after their loss to the Rebels? Thankfully he shared that during his postgame press conference on Saturday.
"It's on to the next. I mean, welcome to the SEC, baby," Smart said via 247sports.com. "I mean, I said when the season started that it was going to be the toughest schedule we've ever had in the SEC with the addition of the Texas game on top of all the others we had to play. It's extremely tough. It's difficult. I mean, the outlook of going to those four road games, the Kentucky, the Texas, the Alabama, and this one, we knew it was going to be really tough."
Welcome to the SEC
The way that Smart is choosing to motivate his team is a little interesting, but it could be effective at the same.
As mentioned, Georgia having two losses at this point in the season was not anyone's goal, but when looking at the season as a whole, it may not be as bad as people think. Their schedule is by far the most difficult in the SEC. It really doesn't get much harder than having to play Ole Miss, Alabama and Texas all on the road. Then when you factor in their game this weekend against a top 10 Tennessee team, you really see how difficult it has been for Georgia.
This however isn't an excuses and doesn't make it okay that they already have two losses. But it does put things into perspective just a little bit when it comes to Georgia's season.
Now all that Georgia needs to do is win their final three games. That is easier said than done, but doing that will get them in the College Football Playoffs which is one of the main goals at the start of every season.
