When was the last time Georgia won an NCAA Tournament game?

Can Georgia do something they haven't done in over two decades?

Georgia basketball is in a position they have not been in since 2015. This was the last time the Bulldogs made the NCAA Tournament, and it looks like that is where Georgia is heading this March.

Georgia is now riding a three game win streak after taking down South Carolina on Tuesday night, which gave the Bulldogs their 19th win of the season. That is a significant number to reach because many NCAA Tournament experts believe that 18 wins is the cutoff between making and missing the tournament this season.

So while it seems like Georgia has accomplished thier goal of making the NCAA Tournament, the next thing on everyone's mind is if they can actually win a game in the tournament. That obviously is a very difficult thing to do, and is something you have to go back much further than 10 years to find the last time Georgia accomplished that.

Last time Georgia won an NCAA Tournament game

Before sharing the last time Georgia won an NCAA Tournament game, let's take a look at the first tournament game they ever. The first time Georgia ever made the tournament was 1983, where they earned a 4-seed in the event. Georiga's first win of the tournament came against 5-seed VCU that year, 56-54. The Bulldogs didn't stop there as they would go on to beat 1-seed St. John's and 2-seed North Carolina en route to the programs only Final Four, which they unfortunately lost to eventual champion NC State.

Since then, Georgia has made 11 other trips to the NCAA Tournament, which includes 2015, 2011 and 2008. Georgia unfortunately did not win a game in either of those years, but going back one more appearance to 2002 is where we can find UGA's last win which came against 14-seed Murray State. That win however was vacated due to violations by former head coach Jim Harrick, so the last win that wasn't vacated came in 1996 against 1-seed Purdue.

Obviously the only thing on Georgia's mind right now is their regular season finale against Vanderbilt and then the SEC Tournament next week, but Georgia will have a chance to accomplish something that hasn't been done in over two decades. And with how good Mike White and Georgia are looking right now, it is seeming very possible that they will win at least one game come tournament time.
