As you all know by now, ESPN’s College GameDay is heading to Texas for Georgia’s showdown with the No. 1 Longhorns this weekend. There are many great things that come with being featured on GameDay, increased exposure, more hype for the game, and an early start to the morning to get ready for the game.

I have many fond memories growing up of setting my alarm Friday night, waking up early, and watching all three hours of GameDay’s coverage before continuing to sit on the couch and watch football all day. That tradition has not stopped since becoming an adult, and only increases when Georgia is featured in the festivities.

Another fun fact about me is that I am a massive golf fan. That is what I do in my free time and what I watch when football isn’t on. So you can probably guess at how excited I was when the guest picker for GameDay this Saturday was announced.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the world, who is the reigning Masters Champion and Olympic Gold medalist will be the guest picker for this week’s edition of College GameDay.

Scheffler played his college golf at Texas, so unfortunately he’ll be in favor of the Longhorns during his air time, but the golf fan in me doesn’t even mind.

I’ll be curious to see what football knowledge Scheffler has and if he’s bold enough to predict Georgia to upset Texas (he won’t be). But regardless, I’m pumped to see the face of professional golf on my television screen outside of the normal months where the PGA Tour dominates the sports world.

College GameDay begins at 9 am EST on ESPN. Scheffler won’t join the program until the very end, but hey, why not watch the entire coverage and soak up as much Georgia football coverage as possible?
