Former Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch saw his dreams turn into reality when he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the NFL Draft Friday night.

Branch being drafted seemed like an obvious decision, but earlier this week that wasn’t the case. After being arrested early Sunday morning there were serious questions about if this would impact his draft stock, but as details emerged it became clear that he really didn’t do anything wrong and probably should’ve never been arrested to begin with.

After being picked by the Falcons he was obviously asked about his arrest, and Branch gave a straight forward yet very important response about who he truly is as a person.

“They (Atlanta) know who I am as a person and the character that I hold myself of,” Branch said via dawgnation.com. “And I think that that was pretty much self-explanatory, given the report and everything.”

“If you look at the things that transpired,” Branch continued, “then you’ll understand why I wasn’t anxious.”

Not only did Branch think his arrest was irrelevant towards his draft stock, but so too did the Falcons. That was made clear when they drafted him in the third round, but they later spoke out about this did not change their pre-draft evaluation of him.

Now Branch gets to live out his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL for a team that already knows him really well. Most Georgia fans are also Falcons fans as well, so he gets to play for fans who already adore him.

And after everything he went through over the last week, being able to stay close to home and play for a fanbase who already loves him is the best outcome possible.
