Blair Walsh, K Seattle Seahawks.

I know, I know, I’m finishing with a kicker. That’s not particularly sexy. It is, however, worthwhile with Walsh who looks like he has rebuilt his career. Having been a pro-bowler in his rookie season, to signing a top 5 contract for a kicker, Walsh looked like he was going to be long term fixture at the Minnesota Vikings.

His struggles began in 2014, however, when he made less than 75% of his field goal attempts. He rebounded in the 2015 regular season until the playoffs came around. In a close game against the Seattle Seahawks, he missed a game winning 27-yard field goal. He looked like a much-diminished kicker last season as the after effects of that missed seemed to have taken its toll.

After being released by the Vikings, Walsh ended up battling for a job on those same Seahawks. It’s a battle he won and it looks like the change of scenery has worked. He won the job and made all 3 of his attempts in a loss to the Packers on Sunday.

Next: Report card for the dawgs in week 2.

This might be a bit of a boring piece for some people, but kickers are people too. Very few are able to sustain success in this league and it’s good to see a former dawg bounce back after such a struggle on the national stage.
