814. . . . Charleston Southern. 14. player

All of the 14 wins for Georgia football were important, but if we have to put one at No.14, it has to be the Charleston Southern game. The Dawgs beat the Buccaneers 56-7 to move to 11-0 on the season— something that hadn’t happened since the Vince Dooley years.

Even though Georgia ranked No.1 for most of the season, game times seemed to either be at 3:30 p.m. or noon, which doesn’t seem fair. The one against Charleston Southern was the fourth nooner of the year, so Dawg Nation was over those early games at this point in the year.

That early start didn’t deter the Dawgs, as for the 10th straight game, they dominated their opponent into submission.

The offense amassed 488 total yards averaging 7.1 yards a play. Georgia recorded 32 rushes for 233 yards on the ground, averaging 7.3 yards a carry and scoring four touchdowns. Georgia used four quarterbacks for the game where they combined to go 20-of-37 for 255 yards, four scores, and two interceptions.

Georgia’s defense held Charleston Southern to 68 yards on the ground and 58 through the air. The Dawgs didn’t give up a score even when the backups got into the game. The Bucs scored on a pick-six, or this game would have been the third shutout of the season.

This game is important because it was another win, but other than that, Georgia avoided slipping up with two regular-season games to go and Atlanta in their sight.

There was only one game that could go in the No. 14 spot, and it was the Charleston Southern one because Georgia was going to win this one regardless. They just had to do it dominantly, which they did.
